My practice centers on painting, drawing, and graphic design, often on a large scale using bold colors and clear images. My subject matter frequently revolves around vehicles and memories, characterized by experimentation with scale and materials. Having spent much of my years surrounded by cars and the stories they tell, I developed a fascination with how vehicles can reflect personal histories.
I once discovered an undeveloped film from 2004, which revealed unsaturated, dull images when developed. These photos captured my family attending a NASCAR race, featuring Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s car. The memory is vague since I was very young, but the distorted image, with its orange-red tint, felt almost unsettling and different.
In my current body of work, I explore why this uneasiness was embodied in that image and how I can evoke similar feelings in my artwork. My work delves into the edges of reality and distortion, examining the idea of vanishing memories, places, and objects that were once seen or remembered. Through this exploration, I seek to find balance within distortion.
